XBuild (San Francisco) has raised $19 million in Series A funding to expand its AI-native estimating platform for contractors and insurers. The round was led by N47, with participation from Rackhouse Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz.

Matthew Cowan, General Partner, N47.

The startup launched in 2025 with an insurance-focused estimating tool and says it has since processed more than 15,000 completed projects representing $250 million in construction volume. Its initial product, which helps contractors generate carrier-aligned estimates, has been used widely in property insurance claims, particularly for residential roofing. XBuild reports the tool has saved contractors more than 40,000 hours of manual estimate work.

Building on that traction, XBuild has released Roofing Proposals, a new offering that enables residential contractors to generate detailed, editable estimates in under 15 minutes. The platform accepts PDF measurement reports from EagleView, Hover, Roofr, and others, as well as standard job-site photos. It integrates with ABC Supply for real-time material pricing, and includes homeowner-facing features such as digital proposals, Good/Better/Best pricing, e-signature, and embedded payments through Stripe.

“Estimating and proposal generation remain major bottlenecks for contractors, yet legacy tools haven’t kept pace with AI capabilities or the realities of how the industry works today,” comments Matthew Cowan, General Partner, N47. “XBuild leverages deep industry expertise to deliver compelling automation and efficiency gains in construction, representing a cutting-edge application of AI to real-world problems.”

Sharuk Khanna, Co-Founder, XBuild.

XBuild was founded by Jahan Khanna and Rob Moran, former executives at Uber and Postmates, alongside civil engineer Sharuk Khanna. The company is targeting expansion into other verticals such as HVAC, concrete, and windows, but continues to serve insurers and insurance-focused contractors with its Insurance Estimation Copilot, which remains in active use.

“Construction and the cost of building is the last space that truly has not been disrupted by technology in the way most of the rest of the world has,” says Jahan Khanna, Co-founder, XBuild. “In order to deal with the cost-of-living crisis all of us face today, it must become cheaper, faster, and easier to build things in the physical world. XBuild and the coming AI revolution will be a catalyst to that end.”

The company positions itself as both a contractor productivity tool and a source of standardized, insurer-ready estimates that can help improve speed and clarity in claims workflows.
