Vermont Mutual Insurance Group (Montpelier, Vt.), an A.M. Best A+ rated insurer and perennially recognized as a Top 50 P&C insurer by Ward Group, has deployed Guidewire Software’s (San Mateo, Calif.) Guidewire InsuranceNow. to increase business agility by eliminating unnecessary complexity and enabling faster speed-to-market for new products and rate changes. The insurer implemented InsuranceNow, through its SUMMIT legacy transformation program, for its dwelling fire line of business in the states where it operates and is currently extending the implementation to the rest of its personal and commercial lines of business in those states. Vermont Mutual also deployed SmartCOMM from Smart Communications for customer communications management. Guidewire is a reseller of Smart Communications (Manchester, N.H.), a Guidewire PartnerConnect Solution and Ready for Guidewire program member.

“The initial InsuranceNow implementation to our dwelling fire line of business has been a significant milestone for us,” comments Bryan A. Mjaanes, VP, CIO, Vermont Mutual. “Guidewire has grown to become a true partner to us. Our teams continue to enhance our working relationship to the point where we are working as a cohesive unit throughout the entire implementation project. We challenge each other to improve and have developed a deep partnership as we move forward with our program.”

New Functionality for Agents, Migration sans Issues

InsuranceNow has enabled Vermont Mutual to modernize its processes, providing functionality to agents that the insurer had not been able to offer in the past, according to Donna Melendy, SUMMIT Business Lead, Vermont Mutual. “The user experience has been positive,” Melendy relates. “Our underwriters now have the information they need through a single dashboard, workflow has significantly improved for our claim handlers, and we have been able to migrate most of our policies without any issues.”

“We are grateful for our partnership and collaboration and congratulate Vermont Mutual on its successful InsuranceNow implementation,” said David Burns, vice president, Professional Services, InsuranceNow, Guidewire Software. “We are thrilled that InsuranceNow is providing Vermont Mutual with a value-based P&C core Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform to fulfill its mission of providing financial security to its policyholders and agents through quality products and outstanding service.”
