Topa Insurance announces Names Tracy Tillinghast CIO

Tillinghast will be responsible for driving the Topa’s technology strategy and leading the IT department.

Topa Insurance Group, a Calabasas Calif.-based boutique property-casualty insurer, has named Tracy Tillinghast Vice President & Chief Information Officer.

Tillinghast joined the company in 2018 as Director of IT Product Management and earlier this year was promoted to Assistant Vice President of IT. Since joining the company, Tillinghast has been responsible for leading the successful implementation of a new policy administration system Guidewire – InsuranceNow, as well as changing the company’s software delivery methodology to Agile, and partnering with business stakeholders to develop an annual IT roadmap. In March, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tillinghast was instrumental in moving the workforce to a remote model in less than a week, a Topa statement says.

Tillinghast has over 25 years of insurance technology experience, including leading high performing teams and implementing technology solutions with measurable benefits. Prior to joining Topa, he served as an IT executive at the California State Automobile Association (CSAA; Walnut Creek, Calif.).

Pursuing Further Improvements

In his new role, Tillinghast will be responsible for driving the Topa’s technology strategy and leading the IT department. He will continue to pursue improvements in technology so that Topa’s team can efficiently build productive and collaborative relationships both with internal departments and external business partners, according to a Topa statement on his appointment.

“I am excited to take the reins and drive Topa Insurance’s technology strategy,” comments Tillinghast. “The Topa Insurance technology team has transformed over the past few years and I am dedicated to continuing our progress.”
