SMA (Boston) has announced that Tom Benton has joined the research and consulting firm’s leadership team as Partner, Carrier Transformation. Benton has over 20 years of experience as an insurance technology strategist working as a CIO, industry analyst and consultant.

Benton was most recently VP of Research and Consulting at Novarica (now Aite-Novarica Group, Boston). Earlier he served as Chief Information Officer at Navy Mutual (Arlington, Va.), and CIO/CTO at two major nonprofits in the Washington, D.C., area. He holds a master’s degree from MIT and a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.
