The Helper Bees Launches Independent Care Concierge

The platform reduces long-term care insurance claims costs and mitigates care costs while supporting the well-being and independence of elderly clients.

The Helper Bees (THB; Austin, Texas), a company offering the proposition of a better model for home care, has launched Independence Care Concierge, which a company statement describes as the first platform to connect aging Americans to the entire long-term care community, enabling independence for longer while reducing operating expenses and claims for insurance carriers. The platform is already in use by CNA (Chicago) and other large insurers.

Aging Americans are increasingly receiving long-term care at home, and the pandemic has accelerated that trend. However, existing long-term care insurance plans do not automatically cover quality care at home. Rather, they prioritize a combination of nursing home stays and hospitals for acute care. This not only leads to social isolation and depression for those who are aging, but overtaxes hospitals and proliferates expensive insurance claims.

Independence Care Concierge supports the independence of aging adults by connecting them with live care specialists, such as geriatric care managers, long-term care practitioners or registered nurses. These experts help mature adults and their families understand all available care options, from adult day care to declutter services, according to THB. Each customer receives a personal care journey, designed to support ongoing good health and delay the need for a long-term facility.

Reducing Claim Costs

For insurers, the platform reduces claims costs and mitigates care costs, according to the vendor. Even delaying the transition to a nursing home by up to one month can save roughly $3,000 in care costs, a substantial savings when multiplied by the sharply increasing number of Americans who will use their long-term care plans in the coming years, a THB statement says. The company also builds data points that designed to predict future claims patterns. Insurance agents can offer Independence Care Concierge as a value-add even for those who do not qualify for long-term care insurance.
