Symetra Life Insurance Company (Bellevue, Wash.) has named Joel C. Kneisley senior VP and chief information CIO. Kneisley was promoted from his current role as VP, Information Technology, and continues to report to Symetra CFO Margaret Meister, who served as interim CIO since June 2014.
Kneisley will assume oversight of Symetra’s technology strategy, team and operations, with responsibility for the ongoing development of Symetra’s long-term IT and digital roadmap, according to a company statement. Kneisley’s responsibilities include Symetra’s IT systems architecture, business applications and cybersecurity.
Instrumental in Transformational Efforts
“Joel has been instrumental in spearheading and driving key transformational efforts across Symetra’s technology platforms,” Meister comments. “His leadership and strategic approach have helped expand our capabilities and strengthen our infrastructure. Joel’s track record for driving business results positions him well to advance Symetra’s vision for leveraging information technology on behalf our customers and business partners.”
Prior to joining Symetra in 2011, Kneisley held senior IT management positions at Microsoft, Cloud Wise Consulting and Fox Software, as well as in the United States Armed Services where he managed the deployment of Global Positioning Systems.
Kneisley is the recipient of an Alexander Hamilton Award from Treasury & Risk for “Excellence in Treasury Systems.” His work has been highlighted in additional industry journals, including Wall Street and Technology magazine. He earned a bachelor of business administration degree in computer systems from Ohio University.
