State Auto Insurance Companies has selected Effisoft USA’s (Dallas) WebXL software for ceded reinsurance administration. The system will replace legacy systems, an Access database and manual processes to provide the Columbus, Ohio-based carrier with what the vendor calls a comprehensive, single solution, to administer its multiple reinsurance treaties.
“WebXL is a critical piece of our overall effort to improve reinsurance administration and processing,” comments Matt Pollak, VP, chief accounting officer and treasurer, State Auto. “WebXL will enable us to streamline and automate our reinsurance process, thus simplifying regulatory compliance.”

State Auto selected a hybrid model, which provides what most insurers demand: retention and ownership of company data while outsourcing software management, according to Joseph Sebbag, CEO, Effisoft USA. Both the application and database servers are installed on site at State Auto, but Effisoft remotely manages and maintains the WebXL platform.
“State Auto came to us with specific requirements about how their system would have to meet their unique needs,” Sebbag comments. “It was gratifying to be chosen after an exhaustive selection process.”
