Southern Trust Insurance Modernizes on Guidewire InsuranceNow

The Georgia-based insurer expects the implementation to boost customer experience and agent ease-of-doing-business, while streamlining policy processing and improve access to information.

Southern Trust Insurance Company, a Macon, Ga.-based personal and business insurance carrier has selected Guidewire Software’s InsuranceNow to modernize its technology platform and support a business transformation. The insurer will implement the all-in-one, cloud based solution first for its business owners’ policy line in South Carolina, with other lines and states planned to follow.

By implementing InsuranceNow, Southern Trust will be able to do the following, by Guidewire’s description:

  • Enhance operational efficiency and productivity throughout the organization by standardizing policy administration, billing management and claims handling processes on a cohesive technology platform;
  • Allow current IT staff to focus on more strategic initiatives to support the business; and
  • Increase speed-to-market and business agility, as well as reduce system maintenance costs, by leveraging cloud technology.

“InsuranceNow will simplify our system landscape by reducing the number of systems we have to support, thereby enabling us to focus on more value-added services to the business, especially business intelligence,” comments Jerry Johns, VP, IT, Southern Trust. “We plan to grow the company, so InsuranceNow and the cloud are strategic parts of our future, helping ensure business continuity by enabling us to scale up quickly through the redundancy and strength of Amazon Web Services as a cloud platform. Guidewire describes InsuranceNow as a cloud-based, all-in-one solution that supports the property/casualty insurance lifecycle. The vendor says that the solution’s integrated design, out-of-the-box functionality, and guided approach enable fast implementation and quick upgrades. The vendor says that the advantages of cloud-based delivery and ongoing operational support by Guidewire give insurers freedom to focus on innovation and respond rapidly to market demands, even if they have limited internal IT support.
