Sixfold (New York) has launched Distribution Intelligence, a new capability designed to help insurers evaluate broker relationships and target distribution opportunities.
Distribution Intelligence uses data Sixfold already has from submissions, risk signals, decisions and outcomes, according to a Sixfold statement. The capability traces those signals back to brokers and evaluates relationships based on submission volume, submission quality, appetite fit, hit ratio and portfolio impact.
The launch expands Sixfold’s underwriting AI beyond individual submission review into distribution management. The company says insurers can use the capability to set growth targets, such as expanding in a class or geography or improving hit ratio or submission quality.
Sixfold’s agentic system then recommends which broker relationships to prioritize, which to realign and where untapped opportunity exists, according to the company.
“Every underwriter has a mental list of their best brokers and their worst,” comments Tony Rosa, Chief Data and Analytics Officer, Sixfold. “What they lack is the data to quantify it, and the visibility into the middle-of-the-pack brokers where real growth opportunity lies.”
Rosa says Distribution Intelligence is intended to turn individual underwriter instinct into information that can be acted on across the organization, from leadership strategy to underwriter outreach.
Broker Signals in Submission Decisions
Distribution Intelligence feeds into Sixfold’s AI Underwriter, shaping the recommendations an underwriter sees on each submission. If a broker has strong production in a class the carrier is trying to grow, Sixfold says the system can recommend prioritizing that broker’s next submission over others competing for underwriter attention.
If a case fits a growth target but exceeds the underwriter’s authority, Sixfold says the system can recommend referral and attach context for the reviewing manager.
The company says the capability can also benefit brokers by helping carriers identify which broker relationships fit their appetite and growth targets.
“When a carrier can see clearly which brokers are the right fit, everyone spends less time on business that is never going to work,” comments Jonathan Crystal, Managing Partner, Crystal Venture Partners. “That’s good for both sides of the table.”
Distribution Intelligence is the first capability in Sixfold’s Portfolio Intelligence Suite, which is intended to connect broker, submission, policy and claims data into a broader view of the book.
Sixfold says Distribution Intelligence is available now.
Sixfold provides AI underwriting technology for P&C and L&H insurers. The company says its AI Underwriters have processed more than 1.5 million submissions across more than 50 lines of business.
