This week at SAS Innovate 2026 in Grapevine, Texas, SAS Institute (Cary, N.C.) introduced SAS AI Navigator, a Software-as-a-Service platform intended to help organizations manage and govern AI use cases across the enterprise.
The solution is designed to provide a centralized inventory of AI applications, enabling organizations to track models, agents, and use cases while aligning them with internal policies and external regulatory requirements. The launch reflects growing concerns about the rapid adoption of AI technologies without corresponding governance frameworks.

SAS AI Navigator supports a range of AI assets, including large language models, AI agents, and third-party or open-source tools, offering a unified view across the AI lifecycle—from experimentation through deployment and retirement.

The platform enables organizations to apply governance policies not only to underlying models and agents but also to specific business use cases, such as customer-facing chatbots, helping ensure compliance with evolving regulatory expectations.
SAS positions the offering as a response to increasing enterprise risk tied to unmanaged AI usage. Industry research cited in the announcement indicates that AI adoption is outpacing investments in trustworthy AI, while forecasts suggest a significant proportion of enterprises could face compliance or security incidents linked to unauthorized AI deployments in coming years.

Available in the third quarter of 2026 through the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, SAS AI Navigator is intended to integrate with existing AI environments without requiring organizations to replace current tools or models.
The introduction builds on SAS’s broader portfolio of AI governance capabilities, including model risk management, bias detection, explainability, and compliance monitoring, as organizations seek to balance innovation with control and accountability in AI deployment.
