Progressive (Mayfield Village, Ohio) has launched Snapshot ProView, a voluntary usage-based insurance (UBI) and fleet management program for small business owners. Customers signing up for the program save a minimum of 5 percent on their Progressive Commercial Auto policy for their initial term, according to a Progressive statement. Many customers will save 8 percent, and some can even save up to 18 percent for their initial term based on vehicle type and nature of business use, the insurer reports.
As a commercial auto UBI program, the new offering adds to Progressive’s fall 2018 launch of Smart Haul, a UBI program for commercial truck drivers, which uses Electronic Logging Device (ELD) data to provide safe driving discounts. Snapshot ProView provides a commercial UBI option for all other Commercial Auto customers not required by federal law to have an ELD.

Businesses joining the Snapshot ProView program receive the initial 5 percent discount just for signing up and installing the Progressive-provided device in all eligible vehicles. A business’s premium can change at renewal and will depend on where, when, and how drivers in its fleet drive, as demonstrated by their driving data. Progressive notes that it is possible that the driving data will cause an increase to the premium at any renewal.
Ability to Manage Fleets More Efficiently
Snapshot ProView offers business owners the ability to manage their vehicles more efficiently, through its fleet management tools. Fleets of three or more vehicles will have access to the Fleet Dashboard with near real-time vehicle location details, geofencing notifications, and trip-tracking. All business owners will receive monthly emails with personalized safety insights.
