Pinion Insurance (London) has launched Sarrus, a proprietary data interchange platform for managing data flows among MGAs, carriers and reinsurers.
Pinion, a newly formed specialty insurance carrier incorporated in Bermuda and headquartered in London, says Sarrus is designed to replace manual, spreadsheet-based data exchange with standardized, automated and auditable information flows.
The platform connects directly with MGA source systems and creates a controlled flow of operational and risk data between Pinion, MGAs and reinsurers, according to a company statement. Pinion says Sarrus is designed to work with different MGA systems of record and improve data quality earlier in the reporting chain.
“Insurance is entering a period of technological change, and Sarrus reflects what we can build as a new entrant, not simply by digitizing existing technology, but by shaping a more open, efficient and collaborative insurance market and helping move the industry forward,” comments Laura Baird, Group CTO and Co-Founder, Pinion. “This launch isn’t about building another proprietary platform for its own sake. Rather, it’s about creating efficiencies that lower operating costs and allow us to share more of the value we create across the insurance ecosystem.”
For MGAs, Sarrus is intended to reduce manual bordereaux production, spreadsheet exchange and repeated data validation. Pinion says the platform can create month-end bordereaux, reducing an operational burden for MGA teams.
For reinsurers, the platform is designed to provide faster access to clean, auditable portfolio information. Pinion says the system supports daily portfolio visibility, data lineage and audit-ready reporting.
“With Sarrus, we have created a repeatable data layer that can connect to multiple source systems, extract operational and risk data, cleanse and standardize that data, and make it available to authorized participants in a reliable and timely format,” comments Ying Gong, Head of Data and Analytics, Pinion. “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to design this product around the future state of the market rather than retrofitting technology onto legacy operating models.”
Pinion says Sarrus routes data through a controlled data service center, applies automated cleansing and transformation, and provides standardized outputs through dashboards, analytics tools and controlled data-sharing mechanisms.
Digitized Data Flows
“The key to Sarrus lies in its digitalized data flows with market participants’ source systems,” comments Philip Vandoninck, Chief Underwriting Officer and Co-Founder, Pinion. “Sarrus routes data through a controlled data service center, applies automated cleansing and transformation, and then provides standardized outputs through dashboards, analytics tools and controlled data-sharing mechanisms.”
Pinion says it prioritized investment in Sarrus before launching the insurance company to reduce costs and improve service for partners from the outset. The company says the platform is expected to support faster MGA onboarding than market norms.
Pinion is seeking multi-jurisdictional licenses in the U.S., U.K. and European Union, as well as a rating from AM Best. For the U.S., the company says nationwide E&S licenses will be obtained through the acquisition of an identified shell company, subject to parent-state regulatory approval.
Pinion is targeting binding business in the U.S. first, with an expected launch in the third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
