PFRACP Seeks Efficiency through OneShield Cloud-Based Insurance Claims Solution

The Pennsylvania state organization will be able to gain a variety of efficiencies and control staff expansion through implementation of the vendor’s Market Solutions for TPAs offering.

The Pennsylvania Financial Responsibility Assigned Claims Plan (PFRACP), a government organization that protects Pennsylvania residents involved in car accidents involving uninsured motorists, has selected OneShield’s (Marlborough, Mass.) cloud-hosted Market Solutions for TPAs to replace its legacy claims administration system. Using the OneShield Solution to modernize claims processing, PFRACP anticipates greater efficiency and accuracy.

“Our challenge was to find a systems vendor that understood our unique claims processing requirements, including the need to modify the system with limited or no programming skills,” comments Rob Carver, claims manager, PFRACP. “The core cloud-hosted platform was deployed within weeks of contract signing and configuration efforts to meet our unique processing requirements are underway.”

PFRACP conducted a six-month review process to seek an alternative to its 15-year-old legacy system, which relied on manual processes to administer claims. To gain greater efficiencies, the organization chose OneShield’s Market Solutions for TPA’s offering, which the vendor describes as a secure, cloud-hosted and configurable end-to-end claims administration solution supporting multiple insurers, accounts, and lines of business with automated workflows and rules designed specifically to meet the unique needs of TPAs.

Greater Efficiency, New Functionality

By achieving greater automation of its claims administration, PFRACP expects to be able to handle a significantly greater number of claims per person, and thus reduce the need, for additional staffing in the future. Other benefits PFRACP anticipates through implementation of the OneShield system include:

  • the ability to introduce user-configurable workflows that improve efficiencies and consistent handling of files with measurable touch points;
  • new functionality, such as paperless files;
  • having secure access to the system at a third-party vendor’s and attorney’s sites;
  • replacement of many manual tasks with an automated rules engine; and
  • automated population of routine forms.
