Novarica, a Boston-based research and advisory firm focused on insurance strategy has named Chuck Ruzicka vice president of research and consulting. Ruzicka has held senior roles in business and IT at Liberty Mutual (Boston) and Progressive (Mayfield Village, Ohio), and has acted as CIO at regional P&C carrier.

Ruzica’s expertise includes IT organizational transformation, application portfolio management, vendor management, process improvement, project methodologies, quality assurance, business continuity, application performance and scalability.
“This is a time of tremendous change for insurers and their technology organizations, and many of them are looking for guidance and support from knowledgeable advisors,” Ruzicka told Insurance Innovation Reporter. “I’ve been working with companies as an independent consultant for several years on issues ranging from core system replacement strategies and improving IT agility to meeting the changing consumer expectations for service delivery.”
Senior Management Roles
Prior to joining Novarica, Ruzicka was CIO/SVP of the Agency Markets division of Liberty Mutual, where he was responsible for global infrastructure software and security. He also held the position of VP at Progressive Insurance. Ruzicka has further acted as CIO at several regional insurance companies. In addition to his experience at the executive and C-level, Ruzicka has served as a board member for mutual P&C insurers, specialty lines carrier, and software development companies. He holds an MBA in Finance from Ohio State University.
