LexisNexis Risk Solutions (Atlanta), a provider of data, analytics and technology, has announced that Nissan North America (Smyrna, Tenn.) has joined the LexisNexis Telematics Exchange. The LexisNexis Telematics Exchange normalizes and scores telematics data from numerous sources including auto manufacturers, OBDII devices and smart phone applications to more accurately determine an individual driver’s patterns of behavior and level of risk, according to the vendor.
Mileage data from automakers is available to participating insurance carriers through the LexisNexis Telematics Exchange, and insurers benefit from having standardized driving data for lead generation, more accurate underwriting and more efficient claims processes, according to LexisNexis Risk Solutions.
“Our new insurance-related initiatives for automakers are designed to enhance the customer’s connected experience and provide valuable services,” comments Adam Hudson, Senior Director & GM, U.S. Connected Car, LexisNexis Risk Solutions. “Consider how data can help improve an individual’s driving behavior for a safer journey and help improve claims, starting with crash detections all the way through the claims process.”
Rewards Based on Safe Driving Behavior
Once connected, a vehicle’s mileage and/or driving data will integrate into the LexisNexis Telematics Exchange to automate and help expedite reporting. With customer consent, data is collected, normalized and analyzed through LexisNexis, which enables automakers to extend their programs and offer drivers the opportunity to track and monitor their driving, and receive benefits and rewards based on their safe driving behavior.
