Nicole Gunderson Joins Manchester Story as Principal

Gunderson led the Global Insurance Accelerator during the last four years and has worked with dozens of InsurTech startups.

ManchesterStory Fund Management, a Des Moines, Iowa-based venture capital firm focused on the InsurTech, FinTech and HealthTech Sectors, has announced that Nicole Gunderson is joining the company in the new role of Principal on the firm’s investment team.

“Nicole is an accomplished and dynamic leader in the InsurTech space, having led the Global Insurance Accelerator for the last four years and worked with dozens of InsurTech startups,” comments Dave Miles, Founding Partner, ManchesterStory. “As a senior leader of our seven-member investment team, Nicole will elevate our investment process while further broadening our extensive insurance & technology network.”

At the Global Insurance Accelerator (GIA, Des Moines), Gunderson was responsible for the overall growth, development, and success of the organization’s programs, as well as providing ongoing support to all of the accelerator’s 58 portfolio companies since its founding 2015. Prior to joining the GIA, she spent seven years in corporate and investment banking with BMO Capital Markets in Chicago, San Francisco, and New York, and five years with FinTech company Dwolla in multiple capacities, including Vice President of Sales and Strategy.

ManchesterStory reports that the creation of the new role coincides with the recent doubling of the firm’s committed capital through the launch of a second, early- stage, InsurTech-focused fund backed by sixteen insurance carrier partners.

Gunderson began angel investing in 2012 and select investments include theSkimm, Seven Sundays, Anymod, Patch and Ruby Money. She completed M.B.A. coursework at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and has a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Iowa Henry B. Tippie College of Business.
