Global Atlantic Financial Group (New York), a U.S.-focused retirement, life insurance and reinsurance company, has announced the appointment of John Rugel as Chief Operations Officer. In his new role, Rugel will be responsible for oversight of all of Global Atlantic’s in-force and new business insurance service and operations. He will be based in the company’s Hartford office and will report to Co-President Robert Arena.
During an insurance career of over two decades, Rugel has gained experience in underwriting, new business and operations leadership positions at Allstate, MetLife, American General/AIG. Most recently, he served as SVP of Life and Annuity Operations at Allstate. He is also VP of the Board for the non-profit Young Chicago Authors.
“John’s success is well known in the industry, and we’re both fortunate and excited to have him leading the evolution of our operations capabilities and service experience,” comments Arena.
Impressive Track Record
In a statement announcing the appointment, Global Atlantic cites Rugel’s “impressive track record of success,” including leveraging new technologies, predictive analytics and robotics process automation to drive operational efficiencies. Rugel is also experienced at managing third-party administrator (TPA) relationships, as well as critically evaluating operations infrastructure to drive efficiencies and cost savings while maintaining a customer-centric focus, Global Atlantic reports..
