Insurance core systems vendor ISCS (Jose, Calif.) has opened a new office in Birmingham, Ala., to provide capacity for a wide range of functions including as business intelligence, DevOps, professional services and consumer experience, which includes mobile and web applications. The Silicon Valley-based provider of the SurePower Innovation suite is responding to rapid growth in recent years, but its expansion is as much about quality as quantity, according to Doug Moore, VP and CTO.
“Today’s consumer-driven technology, including mobile apps and business intelligence, is changing the way insurers do business,” Moore told IIR. “While much of this Birmingham expansion is to address the growth of our customer base and SurePower Innovation, we also want to make sure we’re ahead of the changing market, so we can help our customers overcome technology challenges and, ultimately, meet their customers’ needs. Investing in the right talent, tools and environment here in Birmingham will enable us to do so.”

The Birmingham facility opened with about 20 employees—a figure that ISCS expects to double within a year. The company held an office opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at the new office location, 210 Inverness Parkway in Birmingham, on May 14, attended by Birmingham Mayor William Bell and other local businesspeople, partners and ISCS staff.
“The Birmingham business community has been very welcoming,” says Claudia Fuentes, director of human resources for ISCS. “Our plans for the coming year include further expanding and building out our office and development space here.”
