HIVE Underwriters (London) has launched an aviation reinsurance division as part of the company’s multi-class expansion strategy.

The MGA says underwriting operations for the division will begin in October 2026.

HIVE has appointed Scott Bradbury and Joshua Down to lead the aviation reinsurance operation following completion of their obligations with their current employer.

HIVE says the division expands its existing specialty underwriting operations, which include aviation, space, marine and political violence and terrorism business.

Natural Extension

“We are building HIVE around exceptional underwriting talent, and the launch of Aviation Reinsurance is a natural extension of that strategy,” comments Bruce Carman, CEO, HIVE Underwriters. “Scott and Josh bring not only deep technical expertise, but also a relationship-driven, knowledge-led approach to underwriting that aligns perfectly with how we operate.”

The company says the expansion forms part of continued investment in underwriting talent, data capabilities and analytics intended to support specialty risk underwriting operations.
