Funeral Directors Life, an Abilene, Texas-based provider of pre-planned funeral insurance, will replace its prior document management and imaging system with the OnBase by Hyland (Cleveland) in support of a digital-first claims vision, according to the vendor.
Funeral Directors Life turned to Hyland because of its industry reputation and selected OnBase as its enterprise information platform because of its flexibility, tight-knit integrations, robust workflow capabilities and exceptional customer service, according to statement from Hyland. Specific features that helped the insurer make its decision to adopt OnBase included the following, the vendor adds:
- Powerful workflow engine
- Low-code, rapid application development to replace old code and quickly build new applications
- Outlook integration to initiate processes from its email interface
- Improved capture and indexing options
- Integration with its insurance system to retrieve and query data then store it in OnBase
“The research and development that has gone into the product since we first evaluated it five years ago is astonishing,” Kyle Swearingen, director of engineering at Funeral Directors Life. “To see that much new functionality and growth go into a product reinforces our decision that OnBase will continue to support our needs well into the future.”
Enterprise Approach, Mobile Field Capabilities
Taking what Hyland calls a true enterprise approach to implementation, Funeral Directors Life will convert from its ImageNow solution and deploy OnBase in every department, creating the opportunity to optimize processes throughout the organization. The insurer will also incorporate OnBase mobile capabilities to deliver information to employees in the field, with or without internet connection.
