Cumbrado led the IT globalization initiative at MAPFRE (Madrid). During the course of the initiative, the insurer was able to deploy corporate solutions for core processes around the world, facilitating standardized operations with greater operating efficiency and lower total technology cost. His use of innovative technology has resulted in the constant improvement of MAPFRE’s operating models, by the adoption of tools that simplify tasks. For example, he has driven the incorporation of software robots into repetitive administrative processes. He has also driven partnership with Fintech/InsurTech startups by supporting and advising entrepreneurs.

Cumbrado has also driven efficiency through recruitment of Global Software Development and Maintenance services for MAPFRE at the enterprise level, improving the quality of applications, time to implementation and overall cost.

A Passion for Technology

A passion for technology has also driven Cumbrado’s involvement in important industry organizations. For example, he has been president of the IT committee of the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS), focused on identifying new solutions that benefit all partners in the organization. Among his areas of investigation have been digital transformation, the Internet of Things, and the adoption of blockchain.
