Federato (San Francisco) has launched Federato Claims, which the vendor describes as an end-to-end claims management system for carriers and MGAs.
The launch extends Federato’s platform into claims, adding claims management to the same technology foundation used for underwriting, policy administration and billing, according to a Federato statement. The product is designed for carriers and MGAs that manage claims in-house and want to connect claims outcomes more directly to portfolio strategy.
Federato says Claims captures coverage decisions, reserve movement and adjuster reasoning as structured signals while a claim is still open. Those signals can then be fed back into underwriting, pricing and product decisions, helping carriers identify drift, inconsistent decisions, coverage disputes and emerging loss patterns earlier.
“Claims is the one place in the policy lifecycle where you find out if your underwriting was right,” comments
, Co-founder and CTO, Federato. “In a world where AI agents are accelerating underwriting decisions, it is critical to systematically capture the feedback loop between claims and underwriting.”
Federato says legacy claims systems generally record decisions without connecting claims to the risk, policy and underwriting context behind the loss. Federato Claims is intended to close that gap by linking claim activity to the decisions that shape the book.
The company says the system can surface patterns such as recurring disputes around a policy clause, severity pressure in a specific segment, or reserve movement clustering across a book. Those insights can then inform form changes, underwriting appetite, new business conditions or pricing adjustments.
Supporting Handling from FNOL
Federato Claims also supports claim handling from first notice of loss through payment. An AI agent guides FNOL intake, captures structured facts and identifies missing information before a claim reaches an adjuster, according to the company. As new information enters the file, the system checks it against applicable policy language and surfaces missing information, ambiguity or concerns for adjuster review.
Federato says the system maintains an audit trail and captures the rationale and policy language behind coverage decisions. Brokers and policyholders can also check claim status and outstanding items through a portal, reducing calls to adjusters for updates.
Federato Claims is available as an addition to the Federato platform for existing customers and as a standalone entry point for carriers not yet using Federato.
Federato provides an insurance platform spanning underwriting, policy administration, billing and claims, with AI capabilities built into insurance workflows.
