Farmers Protective Mutual Insurance Company (Rogers, Ark.) has partnered with home telematics provider Roost (Sunnyvale, Calif.). Through the partnership, the regional property/casualty insurer will offer Roost’s smart sensors for free to selected policyholders to build customer engagement and mitigate losses.

Farmers Protective Mutual policyholders will offer Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector and the Roost Smart Battery, along with a Farmers Protective Mutual-branded mobile app, according to a Roost statement.

“We’re very pleased to be working together with Roost to deliver this smart home innovation to our members,” comments Brad Fortner, CEO, Farmers Protective Mutual.  “We strive to provide value to our members and the Roost solution will do so by helping to mitigate loss and strengthen our relationship with them as well.”

Roel Peeters, CEO, Roost.

The Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector is designed to sense water leaks as well as humidity and freezing temperature situations. Each detector can be easily located in places around the home most prone to water leaks such as under kitchen sinks, hot water heaters, toilets and various appliances. It then delivers smartphone alerts via the Roost app to help minimize water damage and loss.

“At Roost, we are excited to be working with Farmers Protective Mutual Insurance to deliver value and peace of mind to their policyholders with the Roost smart sensors,” comments Roel Peeters, co-founder and CEO of Roost. “With this solution, Farmers Protective Mutual will be able to provide an innovative and broad set of services to their home and farm properties.”
