Duck Creek (Boston) has launched Agentic First Notice of Loss (FNOL), an AI-powered claims-intake solution now available to early-access customers.

Built on the Duck Creek Agentic AI Platform, Agentic FNOL goes beyond conversational intake by orchestrating multiple AI-driven steps across the initial claims workflow. The solution captures loss information, verifies coverage, enriches the claim record, identifies potential anomalies and routes the claim according to carrier-defined workflows before it reaches an adjuster.

The solution is designed to let claimants report losses in natural language rather than work through a rigid form. It determines follow-up questions and converts the interaction into a structured claim file for adjusters.

“First notice of loss sets the trajectory for the entire claims experience,” comments Jose Lazares, Chief Product Officer, Duck Creek. “With Agentic FNOL, insurers can replace fragmented, manual intake processes with an intelligent experience that captures the right information, verifies coverage, identifies potential issues early, and moves each claim to the right next step.”

Orchestrating the Intake Workflow

From the initial description of a loss, Agentic FNOL can verify policy and coverage information, assess injury and legal severity and identify potential anomalies in claim characteristics. Duck Creek says the system can cross-reference reported circumstances, submitted images, policy information and other claim data to identify inconsistencies requiring additional review.

AI-generated determinations and actions are logged, with exceptions routed for human review.

“For years, adjusters have begun work on claims that are incomplete, unverified, and missing critical context,” comments Ella Jurotte, Senior Director, Product Management, Duck Creek. “With Agentic FNOL, enrichment begins the moment a loss is reported.”

Duck Creek says the solution supports conversational intake, data capture and validation, triage and routing, early fraud and anomaly detection, and real-time integration with claims workflows.

The company developed Agentic FNOL in collaboration with Google Cloud using Gemini models. The solution works with Duck Creek Claims and can also support third-party core-system environments.

Duck Creek says carrier-defined workflows, rules and controls govern agent activity, with AI-driven actions designed to be traceable, explainable and auditable and human review retained for exceptions and complex claims.

Agentic FNOL joins Duck Creek’s Agentic Underwriting and Agentic Product Configurator offerings as part of the company’s broader portfolio of agentic applications.
