Capital Insurance Group Differentiates with Agencyport Solution Trio

CIG saw the opportunity to access significant revenue growth opportunities even as the carrier had a multi-year core systems consolidation and improvement initiative underway.

Seeking to differentiate itself through the online point of sale channel, Capital Insurance Group (CIG, Monterey, Calif.) a regional P&C carrier serving the Western U.S., has selected Agencyport’s AgencyPortal web-based distribution platform, Turnstile form automation service and Connect5 routing and orchestration platform.

CIG was looking for a web distribution solution that would draw more business and make doing business faster and easier for its agents, internal underwriters and policyholders, according to an Agencyport statement.

CIG saw the opportunity to access significant revenue growth opportunities even as the carrier had a multi-year core systems consolidation and improvement initiative underway, according to Walt Bennett, the carrier’s VP of underwriting. “A world-class, independent front end such as AgencyPortal will allow us to differentiate from our competitors, drive speed-to-market, and provide greater automation support for both consumer and agent constituencies—all amidst backend replacement,” he comments.

CIG’s strategy shows that insurers can take advantage of market opportunities while responding to the need to invest in modernizing their core systems, suggests Deb Smallwood, founder of insurance analyst and advisory firm Strategy Meets Action (SMA). “Leveraging a flexible, best-of-breed front end to improve the ease of doing business will allow CIG to take on both initiatives simultaneously— getting them to their business goals more quickly,” she remarks.
