Breeze, the Omaha-based InsurTech dedicated to offering protection to families in their most financially vulnerable moments, announced the new offering of an individual short-term disability insurance product. With the addition of short-term disability insurance, Breeze says it has bolstered its online income protection platform already featuring multiple long-term disability insurance products. The digital agency says that Breeze now offers the only individual short-term disability plan with a 100 percent online experience and benefits for family medical leave.

The new product fills a gap between what employers provide and families need, according to Breeze. Less than 20 percent of U.S. workers have access to paid family medical leave through their employers, so the new individual short-term disability insurance product offered by Breeze can provide financial security to those that may experience a loss of income while providing full time care for a child, spouse, or parent. The InsurTech distributor says the new product can also be a good option for employees who want to protect their income but don’t get offered a group disability insurance plan through their employer.

“To meet a range of needs for both consumers and our distribution partners, we want to provide a diverse suite of digital disability insurance products,” comments Colin Nabity, CEO and co-founder, Breeze. “We’re excited that our platform finally makes individual short-term disability insurance easily accessible, especially for those juggling the demands of work and family.”

Breeze notes that consumers interested in individual short-term disability insurance can use its online platform to get a quote in seconds, apply in minutes, and manage their policies.

Availability to Distribution Partners through Portal or API

Breeze reports that its distributor partners can offer the short-term disability insurance product to their clients directly through the Breeze Agent Portal or through Breeze’s proprietary API. In addition to referring their clients to Breeze, partners can also use Breeze to quote and apply for individual short-term disability insurance on behalf of their clients, Breeze says.

“The launch of individual short-term disability insurance on Breeze gives agents and advisors a turnkey platform to sell a unique product and save time doing so,” says Andrew Hamill, Head of Distribution, Breeze. “It’s our goal to help current and future partners accelerate their short-term income protection sales with this product, which can feature family leave benefits.”
