William N. Pieroni has succeeded Gregory A. Maciag as president and CEO of ACORD (Pearl River, N.Y.), the insurance industry’s global data standards and services organization. Maciag, who announced his intention to retire after nearly 40 years with the organization in late 2014, has been named President Emeritus of ACORD and will be an advisor to the organization.
“With four decades at ACORD, I am truly proud of our success,” comments Maciag. “The future continues to be filled with opportunities and I can’t think of a better leader than Bill Pieroni to continue the ACORD journey.”
Pieroni was most recently Global Chief Operating Officer of Marsh (New York), responsible for the firm’s global operations. He was also the Chief Technology and Transformation Officer across the company’s Risk and Insurance Segment. Pieroni has been a highly visible figure in the insurance industry over the past two decades.
Prior to joining Marsh, Pieroni was Senior Vice President and part of the Office of the Chairman at State Farm. Prior to that, he served as Aon’s Senior Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer with global responsibility for operations across retail, wholesale and reinsurance brokerage. His insurance and financial services background also includes General Manager of IBM’s insurance business, a partner at Accenture and consultant with McKinsey & Company.
Pieroni earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting with University Honors & Distinction from the University of Illinois. He also received his M.B.A. with Highest Distinction, and was named a Baker Scholar from Harvard University School of Business Administration.
