Assurant, Inc., a global insurer based in Milwaukee, Wisc., has deployed ClarionDoor’s (Santa Barbara, Calif.) CD Rating and CD Issuance for rating, quoting, and policy issuance for the company’s general liability and commercial property programs in all states.

In order to accelerate its product development in the specialty market, Assurant sought a modern, streamlined technology solution that could be integrated with ISO Electronic Rating Content (ERC) and ProMetrix, according to a ClarionDoor statement. ClarionDoor provided a solution that could be implemented quickly, and following implementation has already proven successful, according to the vendor.

“ClarionDoor has delivered a turnkey approach for rating, quoting, binding, and issuance that provides a streamlined workflow,” comments Rick Lanter, VP, global P&C strategy, Assurant.

CD Rating and CD Issuance are cloud-based solutions that, once configured, eased maintenance costs and upgrade concerns for Assurant. Using ClarionDoor’s agile development approach, Assurant was able complete the project in approximately 90 days.

“The intent is never to tie a client to technology that requires heavy lifting and extensive professional services to update and maintain,” comments Patrick McCall, chief sales officer, ClarionDoor. “ClarionDoor’s solutions empower our clients to do business faster and smarter. In today’s world, speed-to-market for new standard and non-standard insurance products is critical.”

Data Advantages

Another way Assurant will benefit from the ClarionDoor implementation is integration with ISO ERC, which automates the manual implementation process for ISO loss costs, rules, and coverage updates, and the ProMetrix suite of solutions, which contains data and analytics on seven million commercial buildings and 26 million businesses in the U.S.

“Updating rating content and quotes can be costly for many insurers and often leads to frustrating buying experiences,” comments Deborah Morris, SVP, commercial lines, ISO (a Verisk company, based in Jersey City, N.J.). “By integrating our tools, ClarionDoor has enabled Assurant to streamline processes and meet the changing expectations of its customers with greater speed and precision.”
