Armed Forces Benefit Association (Alexandria, Va.) has gone live with Benekiva (West Des Moines, Iowa) for life insurance member-benefit claims processing.
The AI-enabled claims platform was implemented in six months and supports AFBA’s benefit payment process from initial notification to reconciliation, according to an AFBA statement. The association says the deployment is intended to improve customer service and the beneficiary experience for members and their families.
AFBA serves more than 915,000 members. The organization says modernizing benefit payment processing is part of its broader effort to support member families with greater speed, clarity and care during difficult moments.
The Benekiva deployment uses streamlined workflows and integrations to reduce double entry and speed claims processing, according to AFBA. The association says the platform will help members and beneficiaries receive faster service and benefit payouts.
“Enhancing the beneficiary experience is a core priority for AFBA,” comments Jill C. Paulin, SVP, Operations, AFBA. “Benekiva’s platform enables us to serve families with greater efficiency, clarity, and compassion. Their modern claims capabilities, combined with their understanding of our environment and mission, position us to spend less time on claims administration and more time on member connection and compassion at the moment our members’ families need us most.”
Better Experience without Disrupting Existing Environment
AFBA was established in 1947 to provide life insurance benefits to military members and their families. The organization now serves uniformed services members, first responders, government employees and their families.
“AFBA embodies purpose-driven service, and we’re honored to support their mission,” comments Brent Williams, Founder and CEO, Benekiva. “Our platform is designed to remove manual friction and give claims teams the flexibility to deliver a better experience without disrupting their existing environment. This go-live is a testament to what can be accomplished when a beneficiary-first mindset, industry expertise, and a modern claims platform come together.”
AFBA says it has $57 billion of death benefits in force and has paid $2 billion in survivor benefits since inception. AFBA death benefits are primarily underwritten by affiliate 5Star Life Insurance Company, a Lincoln, Neb.-domiciled company.
Benekiva provides claims automation technology for life, annuity, living benefits and related insurance lines. The company says its platform supports claims processing from first notice of loss to final payout.
