The American Equity Underwriters, Inc. (Mobile, Ala.) announced that Mike Adams, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, has been appointed to the Partners Committee of the Shipbuilders Council of America. The committee represents shipyard suppliers and partner members of the council and works to strengthen engagement across the U.S. shipbuilding industrial base.
“A strong shipbuilding industry supports a stronger maritime economy, and that work depends on serious collaboration across shipyards, suppliers and the broader waterfront community,” says Win Thurber, Chief Commercial Officer, The American Equity Underwriters, Inc. “Mike brings steady leadership and deep industry knowledge to this role, and we are proud to see him represent AEU alongside the Shipbuilders Council of America and its members.”
Adams has been with The American Equity Underwriters since 1995 and has held leadership roles across finance, underwriting and sales. In his current position, he helps guide the organization’s strategic direction and supports relationships across the maritime industry.
The Shipbuilders Council of America is the national trade association representing the U.S. shipyard industry, including shipbuilders, ship repair companies and suppliers.
The American Equity Underwriters serves as program administrator for the American Longshore Mutual Association, a group self-insurance fund authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor for waterfront employers operating under the United States Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. The organization provides claims administration, loss control and related services for maritime employers.
