Aetna (Hartford) has selected HealthEdge’s (Burlington, Mass.) HealthRules product suite to support a variety of what the vendor characterizes as next-generation consumer offerings.

Aetna selected HealthEdge’s HealthRules product suite, which combines health management and health care technologies, for its ability to provide flexible product and benefit designs, network configurations and real-time claims processing, according to the vendor.

“The HealthEdge technology connects consumers, providers and payors through its administrative platform,” comments Teresa Wankum, VP, Customer Service Operations, Aetna. “We are excited about the possibilities HealthEdge provides Aetna to support new marketplace opportunities like private exchanges and automate manual business processes as we work to deliver solutions to consumers that are affordable, convenient and enabled by technology.”

HealthEdge provides what it calls an integrated financial, administrative and clinical platform for healthcare payors. HealthRules is powered by the vendor’s proprietary HealthRules Language, a patented, English-like healthcare-specific grammar.
