John Bissell, former chief operating officer of Capita Commercial Insurance Services has been named ACORD’s senior vice president of global operations. In that role he will supervise all of the insurance technology standards organization’s global and London Market operations and manage ACORD’s London and global staffs. Bissell will be based in ACORD’s London office and will assume the responsibilities of Roy Laker, ACORD’s London-based vice president, who will be retiring this year.
At Capita, Bissell was responsible for delivering operational improvements that significantly increased efficiency and collaboration, and was Managing Director of the Capita-Marsh Business Process Outsourcing relationship. His previous positions include operations director at Miller Insurance Services and Head of International General Insurance Operations at Aviva. A strong advocate for industry modernization, Bissell has been influential in driving technology initiatives in the London Market, according to an ACORD statement.
