Global Atlantic Financial Group (Des Moines), a U.S.-focused retirement, life insurance and reinsurance company, has announced that Dave Wilken has joined President of the company’s life insurance business. Wilken joins Global Atlantic from Voya, where he served more than 20 years in various leadership roles, most recently as President of Individual Life. Wilken will assume his new role as of December 12, 2016, replacing Mike Miller, who accepted an offer to become President of a large independent life insurance and annuity distributor based in Kansas.
“Dave’s strong leadership and diverse insurance expertise make him ideally suited to lead our life insurance business,” comments Rob Arena, President of Retirement and Life. “We are excited about the growth prospects for our life insurance business and fortunate to have a talented executive in Dave to drive this effort.”
Prior to leading the business as President of Individual Life at Voya, Wilken was President of life sales for three years. He was responsible for the leadership and management of all Individual Life sales distribution channels with a focus on growth in the accumulation and indexed market segments.
Impressive Strategy and Growth
“I have been very impressed with Global Atlantic’s strategy and growth, as well as the experience and talent of the people there,” Wilken comments. “I am happy to be part of the team, building on Global Atlantic’s product strength and distribution relationships.”
Global Atlantic reports that it insures the largest block of indexed universal life insurance in the U.S. marketplace. Accordia Life and Annuity Company issues indexed universal life, universal life and term life insurance for Global Atlantic, which distributes through independent agents across the United States.
Wilken will relocate from Minneapolis to Des Moines, where he will oversee all aspects of Global Atlantic’s traditional life insurance business.
